EMDR Therapy

EMDR – (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence based method that is widely accepted in the field of trauma treatments and regarded as an effective, structured, time effective treatment. At time of its development EMDR was utilized to treat PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) but over time it proved its efficiency in cases of Anxiety, Depression, OCD, different Phobias, Attachment wound, chronic pain and distressing life events. EMDR utilizes “dual attention” in a form of Bilateral Stimulation (BLS) that can be visual, tactile or auditory. These stimuli support the Brain to reprocess “move” memories out of their “stuck” state. With EMDR these memories (feelings, thoughts, body sensations) get reintegrated together with positive, strengthening, adaptive responses. The result is usually a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is often also known as talk therapy. There are many methods used in psychotherapy to help people living with challenges in their life, may it be an emotional, psychological, or behavioral challenge. Therapy can help improve symptoms or in some cases people can learn strategies to cope with symptoms that don’t respond to treatment right away. Research shows that the benefits of therapy last longer than medication alone, because therapy teaches people skills to address symptoms and difficulties on their own providing a sense of control and stability. These newly built skills as well as the insight about one’s own purpose, goals, qualities and values continue to help people even after therapy ends.
